A tool for when you need to eliminate private data
There are many instances when you might wish to delete files forever. For example, when you are preparing to donate a used computer to a good cause you may not wish to donate all of the information both private and business that is stored on that computer’s hard drive. And simply deleting that information does not permanently erase it. Anyone with a good quality data recovery tool can access that hard drive and direct a tool to reconstruct all of the files especially including the deleted ones.
Programs used to delete files forever are known as file shredders. They overwrite the sectors and space on your computer’s hard drive with new random reproduced information. This process of scrambling the data is done many times in random patterns. Once complete, no trace of the original file structure exists and as such reconstruction of the original file is impossible. This also applies when one wishes to recover deleted files from external hard drive sectors which have been wiped clean. Quality file shredders are so effective that they are used by the United States Department of Defense to permanently erase government secrets.
