You may have accidentally deleted important word documents from a hard disk before saving them to a CD or any other storage device.

In order to recover documents / files that are deleted or lost, you need to do the follow certain precautions. They are – avoid saving any new data in the hard drive from which you want to recover documents / files. If you want to retrieve the lost / deleted files at a later stage, then stop using the hard drive so that you can ensure that the files are still intact. If new data is saved / written to your drive or if you install any applications on that drive, you may perhaps decrease your chances of recovering data.

Documents or files may be lost due to various reasons listed below -

Human errors

Deleting documents accidentally

Files deleted by using Shift + Delete key combination

Software failure

Power glitches

Operating system / hard drive crashes

Virus attacks

Documents / files may be deleted from hard drives, memory cards, external hard disks, or USB drives or any other storage device, the data is still recoverable even after deletion / loss. When you delete files any hard drives, only the pointers are deleted but not the actual file, it remains in the hard disk drive until it is over written, as that space is marked as empty space which available for rewriting.

It is easy to recover documents by means of deleted document recovery software but care should be takes that you did not save or write anything on the disk. This software supports file recovery after reinstalling Windows operating system. The more actively you use the drive the harder it becomes to restore the lost / deleted data. Since the lost files will be badly overwritten by the newly written / saved files.

When your computer suffers a hard drive crash, you are usually able to recognize the problem based upon your computer’s inability to start up and load Windows. Most often you’ll be faced with what is known as the Windows blue screen of death, or basically a Windows error screen. Usually the message given states that one or several important operating system files used to access your computer’s hard drive and hence load Windows have been lost or corrupted. More specifically, the error message says the files are missing. That can mean just about anything. The only valid solution is to reload your Windows operating system, but before this general consensus holds that one must recover all of their files locked away on that inaccessible internal hard drive.

There are quality data recovery programs that will allow one to do this and if given the choice this is the best path to take. But should you not have access to those programs and wish to use a conventional data recovery program, you will need to reload your Windows operating system and then use a data recovery program to recover deleted files after formatting. Data recovery after formatting is not the best choice as the percentage of recoverable files tends to diminish after we reload Windows. Still, it is a workable option should you need to reload Windows and start your computer as soon as possible.

The SD or secure digital cards were developed almost 10 years ago as a simple compact means of placing solid state digital media into popular devices such as video cameras and digital cameras. These SD cards and their counterpart MMC cards, were a coordinated design effort of many solid state digital storage media manufacturers. The purpose of this coordination was to set a standard by which any digital device and the accompanying computer could store and access files.

Because these devices have from their inception held large amounts of data they became the perfect choice for video and digital cameras. This same advantage of being able to hold many large size files becomes a detriment during downloading or transfer of image files from a digital camera memory card onto one’s computer hard drive. Invariably at some point anyone who regularly downloads digital image files will need a program built to recover deleted photos from SD card media. These programs can undelete pictures from SD cards easily in just minutes.

Exactly what is a lost partition? Technically speaking, folders, files and even complete partitions are not ever lost. Data can be overwritten and destroyed. Files can be accidentally deleted. But neither of these two things is so large a problem that one cannot use a quality data recovery tool to find and restore the original content. Most modern Windows based computers store files and folders, in what is known as an NTFS partition. This is a proprietary file structure as defined by Windows for retrieval and storage of data on hard disk drives. To recover lost NTFS partition data one will need a Windows based file recovery tool that specifically supports NTFS formatting. This data recovery program is available through Remo software.

Very often hard disk partition access is denied due to corrupted operating system files. To recover corrupted NTFS partition data you will need to scan the corrupted drive using a Remo tool. The wisest course of action in this situation is to use the Windows recovery tool from Remo to copy any important files stored on that hard drive to safe external digital media. And then either reinstall the corrupted files or your entire Windows operating system.

The term recovering lost data can refer to many things. In the best of circumstances one may be attempting to find and recover a few lost emails or photo files. Under tougher circumstances you may need to find a way to recover files from formatted hard drive storage. The latter scenario takes place when we reinstall our Windows or Mac operating system prior to taking the time to copy from our hard drive all of our stored files.

Of course when one’s computer is down and the obvious solution is to reinstall Windows so as to put the device back online, having the foresight to open the hard drive and copy away files is not very common. More often we cheerfully load Windows back onto our computer only to discover afterwards that we have erased all of our precious stored files. Fortunately programs such as Remo Software’s Windows Recovery are able to locate the original file structure of your stored files and reconstruct them with the original file names intact.

Very often we are asked, which the best hard disk cloning software program available is. Choosing from the dozens of cloning software options is difficult. Especially when one considers that many are available completely free of cost. We can eliminate free hard disk cloning software for one very good reason.

All of these programs have speed limitations that make cloning of a modern large size hard drive a time restricted impossibility. When you need to recover formatted partition information, you certainly don’t have entire week to spare while an unbelievably slow program may or may not successfully copy out your information. For this reason we always opt to use Remo Software’s hard disk cloning tool. This robust and powerful program will make the perfect clone of even a full terabyte sized hard disk drive in under 2 hours. And what truly makes the Remo software cloning tool the best in its field is the ability to reinstall the image file to any new hard drive.

When choosing hard disk data recovery software there are a few special features to look for. It is very important that the software you choose supports any version of Windows. Or in the case of Mac computers any model of Mac. The reason for this is that when you are attempting simple recovery of accidentally deleted files you can download the data recovery product directly to your computer’s working hard drive. From there your computer’s operating system can work with the file recovery program to locate and restore damaged or deleted files.

But if you are working on a problem involving crashed hard drive recovery you will need access the files on your computer’s hard drive from the data recovery program has installed to a second working computer. Obviously your file recovery program must be compatible with the operating systems on both computers. Quality data recovery tools such as those offered by Remo software support every version of Windows currently in use.

When you directly delete a file from your computer by pressing shift delete or deleting a file from an external connected digital media device are you actually deleting that file? Also, when you empty files that have been placed into your Windows recycle bin does that permanently delete a file so that no one can ever need it? The answer to both of these questions is a resounding no. Deleting a file does not remove the file information from your computer’s hard drive or any other digital media storage. The basic Windows process of file deletion merely marks the space the file held as available to hold new information.

Should anyone have access to your computer and use a basic data recovery tool to scan your hard drive, they would create a list of all recently deleted files and have the ability to reconstruct those files. This means that any personal information you have stored or financial and medical records could be accessed and copied by anyone. To protect the security of your information you must erase hard drive data permanently by placing sensitive files into a file shredder program. These programs will delete data permanently from hard disk drives, USB flash drives, camera memory cards and any other digital storage devices.

Recently many large corporations have announced that they will be switching from localized email clients and networks to free web based mail furnished by companies such as Google and Yahoo. For most of these firms this is viewed as a cost cutting measure. In fact many municipalities are opting to use free web based email. Unfortunately when using a free web based email the ability to recover accidentally deleted emails is extremely limited.

These email services place deleted mails temporarily into a recycle or trash bin. But that folder has a definitive time limit and after that time has passed the accidentally deleted email is gone forever. In contrast email recovery from a local computer or controlled network using such popular e-mail clients as Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express allow for recovery of lost damaged or deleted emails almost indefinitely. Another major factor in this regard is obviously security. It is impossible to vouch for the security of email storage on huge Internet portals such as Yahoo or AOL. At least when you are storing your emails on your personal computer you are in control of firewalls and other security measures.

There are two scenarios that occur causing the need to recover digital photos. The first is extremely common and occurs when digital image files are added to picture archiving folders that have set size limits. Very often image management programs that come with digital cameras allow only a certain amount of files to be placed in each folder. Once this limit is exceeded digital images are apt to be kicked out of the folder and go missing. Because these image files are usually stored in popular and familiar formats such as JPEGs, you may use any quality data recovery tool to scan through your computer’s hard drive and recover them.

However, in the second scenario resulting in the need for digital photo recovery, our precious digital photographs have never actually made their way onto our computer’s hard drive. They are usually lost during that transfer or download from our digital camera to our computer. To recover image files lost due to corruption or damaged during transfer you will need a digital photo recovery program built specifically to do the task of recognizing what are known as RAW files. These are files created in the format your digital camera originally saves them in. Each camera manufacturer has its own file system for this so when choosing a digital file recovery program make sure the program you select supports your camera type.
